Hello, we are Julie and Betty Guiver, the creators of Ju-Beary Bears.  We first discovered the bear-making world in 1996 and we have been absolutely hooked ever since!!  We thoroughly enjoy creating our bears and furry friends and feel very proud and privileged to be a part of the amazing World of Bear Artisty.

At the beginning of the Millennium, we opened our Ju-Beary Bears Studio at the popular Barleylands Craft Village in Billericay, Essex (please see below) and this is where our bears are 'born' and displayed.  All of our bears and furry friends are made from our own original designs using the finest quality mohair and alpaca and they are mostly one-of-a-kind.  One of the key characteristics of our bears is that they all feature a wobble head joint making them very pose-able and giving them a 'take me home' look!!  They also have glass eyes, cotter pin joints and are filled with polyester fibre and glass or plastic beans.  We also use the occasional steel shot to fill our bear which gives them a little extra weight (although we think it's from them eating too much honey!!).  We love all aspects of bear-making, although our favourite part of all is creating their little faces and scissor- sculpting, hand-painting or airbrushing the final facial details as this is when the bears seem to really come alive in our hands!

We find inspiration in many things from the different textures and colours of fabrics, trimmings, accessories and even fairytale illustrations in children’s books.

We very much enjoy attending a number of teddy bear shows each year, including the prestigious Hugglets Festivals twice a year in London  and the Stratford Teddy Bear Artist Event.  In 2009, we were very proud to exhibit at the Chicagoland Teddy Bear Show in Schaumburg, Illinois - our first ever show State-side - and it was a truly wonderful experience!

Over the years, we (and the bears) have met so many lovely people, some of whom have become very close friends.  The bears feel very special when they are able to make people smile and we also find that is the most rewarding thing of all!!
